Meet the airbox leadership team

Tim Self – Founder & Lead Engineer

A graduate of Purdue University for Mechanical Engineering Technology, Self has achieved engineering experience in the disciplines of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and micro contamination.

In 1994, Self founded AM Technical Solutions, a licensed architect, engineering and construction management firm engaged in the design and construction of advanced technology facilities worldwide. The company earned the Platinum Safety Award for ten consecutive years and is an industry leader in the design and construction of ultra clean semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology environments. In 2016, Self stepped down from his role as Chairman, but continues to have an active leadership role in the company.

Self’s experience at AM Technical Solutions as a leader in cleanroom technology prepared him to found AirBox in 2017 as he envisioned a growing future demand for improved indoor air quality. Self brought to the commercial air purification market a unique leadership perspective due to his 30 years’ experience designing, constructing, and certifying world-renowned cleanrooms for leading global companies. In addition to founding AirBox, Self developed and engineered AirBox’s best-in-class line of AirBox Air Purifiers.

Meredith Teague – President

Meredith Teague, President of AirBox, has been with the company since its founding in 2017 and was instrumental in building the small business to its current size and scale. Teague’s connection to AirBox and to founder Tim Self go all the way back to Kyle, Texas, a small city located between Austin and San Antonio.

While studying business management and administration in nearby San Marcos, Teague began working at Central Texas Speedway, a local racetrack owned by Self. Teague quickly showcased her drive and dedication to growing the business. Soon, she began managing all facility operations, transforming the racetrack into a multifaceted event and concert venue.

As Teague continued managing the popular event and racing facility, Self brought her on to assist in creating his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team, AM Racing. Teague managed all business operations and partnerships for the team.

When Self founded AirBox Air Purifiers in 2017, he knew Teague’s administrative and managerial talents would be crucial to the company’s success. As a result, Self brought Teague on from the earliest days of the company.

Now president and an active shareholder of the woman-owned small business, Teague strives to educate consumers and educators on the importance of indoor air quality.

Adam Smith – VP of Sales

Adam is primarily responsible for business development across all verticals for our company with an emphasis in the growth of our distribution partnerships throughout the U.S.

Prior to joining AirBox in 2020, Adam spent 15 years in the payments industry, achieving success in various sales leadership roles for two Fortune 250 companies.

Mr. Smith’s contributions have been critical in establishing AirBox as the leader in clean air solutions for the commercial space. Most importantly, Adam’s approach to supporting clients aligns with our core values where trust, accountability, communication and the ability to always do the right thing will ensure AirBox can sustain a bright future in setting the standard for clean air. Adam is passionate about reducing the negative health effects from the air we breathe in our schools and workspaces and understands the importance of reshaping the way Americans think about Indoor Air Quality.

Outside of work, Adam enjoys traveling, playing golf, and spending time outdoors with his wife and daughter. He is also a mentor and coach in youth sports and since joining the AirBox Team, he has become an avid race fan through our partnership with AM Racing.

Michail Moore – VP of Marketing

A graduate of the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University with a bachelor’s of business administration, Michail Moore earned experience in marketing even before college by developing social and digital media marketing, branding, and campaign strategy for her brother, Austin Wayne Self, as he built a motorsports racing team alongside the siblings’ father, AirBox founder Tim Self.

After college, Moore continued her efforts in building brands for her brother and his race team in the ARCA Menards Series. Moore then relocated to North Carolina, from where she traveled to race tracks to manage Self’s at-track media and promotional schedule.

Next, Moore moved on to another family business, Tim Self’s AM Technical Solutions, where she served as the Life Science Business Development Manager. There she grew the business by forging new customer relationships and winning new life science services projects.

After a few years at AMTS, Moore followed Self to AirBox, assuming the role of VP of Marketing and becoming an active shareholder in the woman-owned business.

Moore lives near AirBox headquarters in Statesville, North Carolina, with her husband, Wade Moore, daughter, Sawyer, and two German shepherds.

Our Story

In 2017, Tim Self, the founder of AirBox, was inspired to create a safe air solution that would help improve the health and safety of close friends and family. He leveraged his decades of experience in the cleanroom design, construction, and certification and created a prototype air purifier designed for home use.

Tim’s original vision may have been aimed at close friends and family, but it didn’t take long for others to notice. Nationwide, decision-makers at businesses and schools were growing increasingly concerned about poor indoor air quality. At the same time, the early AirBox team began to notice that their own families spent nearly as much time at school or working in offices or manufacturing facilities as they did at home— and they had little to no assurances about the indoor air quality in those spaces.

These realizations led AirBox to refocus early in the company’s history, pivoting to the commercial market. Self turned his focus to creating a best-in-class commercial-grade solution that could thoroughly and safely clean the air in these larger, more populated spaces to keep learning and working environments safer.

Fast-forward a few years, and concerns about indoor air quality skyrocketed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Having already developed a full line of commercial safe air solutions scientifically proven to remove pathogens and particulates from the air, AirBox was ready to meet this newfound need.

AirBox produces state-of-the-art commercial-grade air purifiers developed by one of the leaders in cleanroom technology and customized Safe Air Plans built by our skilled engineering team. We’re proud to be a women-owned small business that makes all its products in the USA, right here in our North Carolina production facility. Our vision is to provide the American people with an effective indoor clean air solution that will provide safer learning, working, and living environments.
